Special Edition TankBot hits the market

Desk Pets International from Hong Kong has just rolled out to the market a new special edition TankBot that will be available only exclusively at Brookstone stores. Just in case the TankBot looks familiar, that is because this is the Winner of Popular Science’s Best of Toy Fair 2011, where it will feature a trio of interactive modes that enables it to navigate through mazes, roam about freely as well as being able to be controlled fully using your iOS or Android-powered mobile device. Not only that, this particular special edition TankBot will also come with a battle mode, enabling you to fire shots using infrared between tanks.

If you are interested in picking it up, the TankBot that sports battle mode can be yours for $24.99. If they’re running out of juice, you can use its retractable USB charger that is built into its body, where 40 minutes of charging will net you a quarter of an hour’s worth of play time. I am quite sure that there is a color to suit just about any personality, ranging from orange to blue, black and green, and since each of them operates on their own frequency, it will pave the way for multi-player racing and battling.
