3.7 million Android devices activated this Christmas

If there’s any testament to the fact that people just love shopping more during the holiday season, the amount of Android devices sold during those days proves it. Andy Rubin has just tweeted a new Android milestone – 3.7 million Android devices activated on December 24^th and 25^th. Android recently reached a new milestone last week when it hit 700,000 activations a day, so this jump to a few million in one day is pretty significant. We’re sure this isn’t going to last throughout the rest of the year, but it does give a huge boost to the amount of Android users worldwide. How many of you purchased or were given an Android device this holiday season?

Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets.
