If you felt like your typical rubber/plastic cases just did not feel sturdy or “premium” enough, you might want to take a look at EDGE Design’s new line of iPhone casings that the company claims is made from high-strength aluminum, and were inspired by the Modulo concept car by Pininfarina, an Italian car design company.

These two new cases are the Alfa and Aktiv which are compatible with both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. They are made from high-strength, aerospace-grade aluminum and will feature a polymer band within the case that suspends the phone inside the case itself. This will help to prevent the aluminum casing from shortcutting the antennas in the phone, and to a certain extent reportedly helps to provide shock absorption when dropped, although we’re not sure we want to put that to the test.

Both the Alfa and Aktiv cases from EDGE Design are available from their website and will be priced at $99 each and will be available in a variety of colors. A bit expensive for a case that doesn’t seem to do much, but if the looks of it and its aluminum material appeal to your senses, pop on down to their website for more information.
