Google invests $94 million in solar energyGoogle has been doing a pretty good job of going green this year, making quite a large number of purchases related to clean, renewable energy. And to cap off the year, everybody’s favorite search engine company has done it again with the investment in a portfolio of four solar photovoltaic (PV) projects being built by Recurrent Energy near Sacramento, California. Google announced that it spent $94 million on its latest investment, which brings up the total amount of money spent by the company on clean energy to over $915 million. No word on what Google intends to do with all the clean energy it is funding, but the folks there “believe investing in the renewable energy sector makes business sense and hope clean energy projects continue to attract new sources of capital to help the world move towards a more sustainable energy future.”
