Import Outlook SignaturesI have recently moved to a new computer and I needed to import outlook signature to my new system.

To anyone who has migrated from a PC to another, moving all the data and re-installing the apps is a major annoyance.

There are software that claims to be able to port the whole configuration to a new machine, but they often work better when there is a single hard drive.

Anyway, you may get a new PC for Christmas, so I thought that I would share how to move Outlook signatures from your old PC to the new one.

Unlike emails and contacts, Signatures are not saved in the Outlook Data Files (.pst), so when you port for Outlook  data to a new machine, your signatures won’t be around. Even if you are on an Exchange server, the signatures are saved locally.  To port them you simply need to:

  1. go to C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures\
  2. Copy the whole directory to the equivalent location on the new PC
  3. The signatures will appear in the email edition window.

There is no need to restart Outlook (I tried with Outlook 2007 and 2010).

Happy migration!
