Monster Digital, the company known for their memory cards, may be taking their business in a new direction and capitalizing on the SSD trend with the release of the LeMans line of high performance drives, which the company claims will be “SandForce Driven” and will feature read and write speeds up to 550MB per second and 515MB per second respectively.
These new series of LeMans drives will also feature overprovisioning, which is the difference between useable space seen by the operating system and the actual physical capacity of the drive. Apparently what this means for the user is that thanks to overprovisioning, performance and endurance of the SSD is increased.
So far it appears that Monster Digital has 80GB, 120GB, 240GB and 400GB models planned, but no word on pricing or availability just yet. More details on Monster Digital’s LeMans series will be unveiled at CES next year, so stay tuned!
