Ovi Contacts to be discontinuedIn ongoing efforts of trying to replace the Ovi brand with just Nokia, the Finnish mobile giant has announced that the Ovi Contacts website will be discontinued in January 24th, 2011. The website which lets users sync and back up contacts on their Nokia phones will no longer be a part of Nokia’s services. From now until the Ovi Contacts website’s closing date, you’ll be able to use the service normally, but users are advised to export their contacts and transfer them to another service before it shuts down.

No word on whether Nokia intends to introduce its own contacts service again in the future, but it looks like Nokia wants you to rely on third party contact services (Hotmail, Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail or Apple Address Book) for now. How many of you are going to miss using Ovi Contacts?
