Good news for Boxee users today – the company has announced the roll out of the Boxee 1.5 update in addition to the release of Boxee Live TV. First up, the Boxee 1.5 update which was announced last year, will introduce a host of new features to the set top box. Boxee 1.5 will bring a brand new UI, improved search, new library screens with simpler filtering, browser pop-up management, Rotten Tomatoes integration, and on-device social account pairing. The update will start rolling out over the next 72 hours, so be patient if you don’t get it yet. Head here for instructions on how to get it manually.
Boxee Live TV, also announced last year, is a complement to the Boxee Box, enabling users to watch internet-based shows and over the air broadcast TV. Boxee Live TV will feature social channel listings that let you know what your friends are watching and vice versa, as well as show you how many people are watching a show as you flip through the channels; the ability to share what you’re watching via social networks; edit your channel line up and let you switch from watching regular TV to internet content easily.
The Boxee Live TV is available now with a price tag of $49.
