Foursquare now has menusIn an attempt to take over some of Yelp’s space in the location-based social network, Foursquare has just beaten it to the punch with the listing of menus and services offered on location listings. With the aid of SinglePlatform – a service that powers the menu of about 250,000 restaurants in major US cities, Foursquare now now lets you check what’s on sale or being offered at a place you intend to go, without you having to make the trip there first.

At the moment Yelp lets users add links to restaurant menus, but that involves leaving Yelp in order to find out more as opposed to Foursquare’s integrated solution. Will this feature draw more users to Foursquare when it comes to hunting for a restaurant? Possibly, but you can be pretty sure Yelp isn’t going to sit around and let it happen. Expect it to do something similar or possibly better in the future.

The menu and services offered on location listings is currently available on Foursquare for the desktop and browser sites, but you can expect it to arrive on mobile apps in the near future.
