Neonode is the first company in the world to put up a Single Chip Optical Touch Controller on offer for the masses. According to them, “TI’s collaboration with customers like Neonode will enable end equipment manufacturers to bring touch solutions and experiences to new applications.” It would definitely be an exciting time ahead as more and more devices as well as appliances start to incorporate touchscreen solutions into their everyday usage, and considering the close partnership between Neonode and Texas Instruments (TI), the NN1001 was specially designed so that the overall bill of materials (BOM) cost is reduced, and yet being able to see an increase in performance and added functionality for optical touch controller customers.

Expect to see this new controller enter action across a wide range of end markets such as smartphones, tablets, e-books and the automotive industry. Thanks to TI’s high-performance, efficient analog signal chain and power management technologies, the NN1001 controller is capable of achieving a high scanning speed of 1000 Hz, where its latency is as little as 1 ms, and will also be power efficient since it consumes under 1mW of juice at 100Hz.
