[CES 2012] The Sphero which debuted a couple of years ago as a smartphone-controlled ball might soon turn the tables – where this robotic ball ordained from Orbotix that receives commands from an iPhone, iPad or Android device sans wires could finally function as a game controller, according to the folks behind the Sphero over at CES. Granted, production delays and receiving more orders than Orbotix bargained have been hiccups in the Sphero’s journey, but check out the video after the jump and see how Sphero might introduce something new to the world of portable gaming. What it needs is a killer app to really fly off the shelves, but until then, it remains in the annals of being a curiousity more than anything else.
