Back in December last year (which was just a month away), Sprint stepped forward to say that they will soon remove the network diagnostic tool known as Carrier IQ from all their devices. It is nice to know that such words are being put into effect not too long after, as an HTC representative did confirm that they are working hand in hand with the folks over at Sprint to remove the infamous software from a slew of HTC devices. The HTC EVO 3D was honored by being the first HTC device on Sprint’s network to have Carrier IQ removed, not to mention picking up an OTA update late last week as well. Here is to Sprint completely removing this particularly (some deem as offensive) network diagnostic tool, and not to go behind users’ backs by implementing another. Apart from Sprint, RIM did inform BlackBerry owners on how to remove Carrier IQ software in their own smartphones last year. Are you a HTC phone owner with Sprint who is happy to hear this bit of news?
