Folks living in Europe, now might be a good time to pick up a Nintendo 3DS – even more so as a Valentine’s Day gift with the recent announcement of a new pearl pink color. Why do we say so? Well, Nintendo of Europe has just announced a new deal with free-hotspot.com, where this partnership with the world’s largest multinational network of exclusively free Wi-Fi Hotspots will enable Nintendo 3DS owners to gain free access to more than 5,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across 21 European countries. Yes sir, this allows compatible Nintendo 3DS games to connect to free-hotspot.com’s network automatically, with plenty of them located in major fast food restaurants and leading hotel chains, ranging from McDonald’s to Burger King, KFC, Subway, Ibis Hotels and Etap Hotels.

Your Nintendo 3DS will be on the lookout for such Wi-Fi hotspots at all times, hooking up to the Internet wherever and whenever available, as you traverse through Europe. When connected to the internet, you can even obtain special and exciting content automatically to your Nintendo 3DS via SpotPass, never mind that the 3DS is in Sleep Mode. Additional exclusive content include special 3D videos from the Nintendo Video service, notifications, and more content in addition to system updates. I do hope that having said that, having an always-on Wi-Fi connection is not going to do your battery life any favors, either, so you might think twice before getting your gaming kicks in full 3D.
