Atlantic Technology SB-900DFAtlantic Technology has announced the launch of its new subwoofers – the SB-900DF. Based on the previously released SB-900, the SB-900DF has one major difference – it features a woofer and bass vent on the bottom of the speaker cabinet instead. Yes, this subwoofer fires out its audio downwards. And if you’re wondering why would anybody design speakers in this way, it allows the speaker to be placed in tight spots behind furniture, with no concern of its output being muffled by the back of furniture.

The SB-900DF features an 8″ long-excursion woofer with an oversized surround and high-energy magnet. Combined with its tuned bass port and 125-watt power amplifier, it delivers high output levels and exceptional low-frequency extension down to 32Hz, -3dB – the lowest fundamental note in the musical spectrum. Proprietary distortion-detection circuitry ensures it doesn’t output distorted sound no matter how hard it is pushed. Fine tuning controls help improve the subwoofer’s sound, and an auto-on sensor helps you save power by automatically turning it off when not in use.

The Atlantic Technology SB-900DF has a peak output of 102 dB SPL in a 2000 cubic foot room and a frequency response for 32 to 200 Hz, ±3 dB.  The black-finished cabinet measures 10-7/8 wide, 13-1/8 high, and 13-1/16 deep, and weighs 28 lbs. It is available now from Atlantic Technology dealers with a retail price of $349.
