For those that hit the gym, you guys are probably familiar with the stationary cycling machine, a fitness machine which some health fitness experts argue is more effective at burning those calories compared to the treadmill. While that is up for debate, Hammacher Schlemmer has decided to offer customers the chance to purchase the Epicycle, which as pictured above might be better described as a stationary unicycle.

Admittedly it has a pretty unique design and a rather futuristic one at that. However what sets it apart from your typical cycling machine would be its dual-satellite transmission which is said to be capable of transforming one pedal revolution into four flywheel rotations. Basically what this means is that by pedaling at 100rpm, the flywheel will be spinning at 400rpm.

The 36” copper ring will sport six magnets installed around the ring’s enclosure to generate a magnetic field, and at the same time providing the user with 12 levels of resistance which can be controlled via a touchscreen display. It features a steel frame and is advertised as being able to support up to 285lbs of body weight. If you have the cash to spare, you could order one for yourself for a whopping $12,000.
