Google has just received the green light from the European Commission to pick up Motorola Mobility despite some speedbumps earlier, which is definitely good news for the Internet search giant as what they really want would be the patents which Motorola Mobility holds, in order to have more “ammunition”, so to speak, in the courtroom especially with Apple acting all cranky. In the words of Don Harrison, Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, “This is an important milestone in the approval process and it moves us closer to closing the deal. We are now just waiting for decisions from a few other jurisdictions before we can close this transaction.”

When the powers of Google and Motorola Mobility combine, the desired result would be to supercharge the Android platform, in addition to deliver faster innovation, greater choice and wonderful user experiences to the end user. The road to approval Stateside was not all that smooth either, which you can read all about it here.
