The Toy Fair 2012 sees ThinkGeek’s latest addition to their stable of weird and interesting gadgets – the iCADE 8-Bitty. After all, ThinkGeek knows that many folks out there already tote around a smartphone or tablet device, be they running on the Android or iOS platforms, and gaming is one of the favorite apps that people download for their devices. Having said that, a touchscreen display is not exactly the best “pure” controller for gaming, where haptic feedback of sorts is still welcome. ThinkGeek steps up to the task with their pocket-sized D-Pad known as iCADE 8-Bitty.

This is the smaller sibling of the iCADE gaming cabinet which came about after being an April Fool’s joke. The iCADE 8-Bitty is said to deliver a similar kind of magic to the pockets of smartphone and tablet owners, being a wireless game controller which has a classic D-Pad and button layout that would definitely remind you of retro 8-bit game consoles. It is battery powered and will feature a fully-functional D-game pad and eight buttons, retailing for $24.99 when it arrives later this year.
