If you want to know how to be as cryptic as possible, go ahead and ask Sony. They seem to have mastered this particular trait that no one likes – and are doing a darn good job at it, too. It is interesting to note that on the European PlayStation blog, two sentences sum up the update, “Today we are releasing a mandatory system software update (v4.11) for PlayStation 3. This minor firmware improves certain aspects of system software.” What irks most PS3 owners even more is the fact that the Twitter feed actually asked PS3 owners to head over to the blog for more information, and when said Twitter users did so, to be greeted by just two sentences that do not offer the kind of information they had hoped proved to be a major downer. Even a changelog would have been welcome, never mind that everybody does not need to understand it in the first place.

On a side note, the US version of the PlayStation blog remains nigh inaccessible as at press time – no idea on whether it is due to the overwhelming traffic of those who want to know what is going on, or whether it has been hacked, or it is simply experiencing some downtime.
