Just as Eldar Murtazin is to smartphone leaks (accurate or not, that is another story altogether), so too, do we associate Major Nelson and the Xbox 360. The good Major has just announced that Microsoft’s team has just released a new system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. From today onwards, when you sign in to Xbox LIVE, you will be on the receiving end of a mandatory update – so make sure you agree to the prompt that pops up! For those who are already signed into LIVE, you could actually be signed out automatically, before being prompted to accept the update – sending you back online in just a moment.

Unlike Sony’s rather vague description of what their latest system update for the PS3 brings, Microsoft does better in this respect, where it will increase the performance of your Xbox 360 while fixing the color issue that plagued some users. This improvement can be seen immediately in the dashboard for those who are affected, and the same fix is also being applied by partners to their apps on Xbox LIVE.
