According to a South Korean source, the new iPhone from Apple will come with a sharper and larger 4.6″ Retina Display, where it is set to hit the markets sometime in the second quarter of this year. It would be interesting to see whether the new iPhone will simply be known as that, as Apple rebooted the iPad naming convention, simply calling it the “new iPad”. It seems that Apple is poised to introduce a 4.6″ Retina Display for their upcoming iPhone successor – according to the Maeil Business Newspaper. Apple’s major display suppliers, LG Display and Samsung Electronics Co., have naturally remained mum on the situation when asked for their comments. I suppose Samsung would find themselves in an awkward position, having relied on 4.6″ OLED display for their flagship Galaxy S2 smartphone. It would certainly be something to watch as to whether the new iPhone will be able to break new sales records when it debuts.
