Lenovo wants to offer maiden Windows 8 tablet in the industry There are two major camps in the tablet market at the moment – the iPad from Apple, as well as Android-powered ones. There is the strong possibility of a third contender soon though, Windows 8 from Microsoft. Marko Ahtisaari, Nokia’s head of design has confirmed that Nokia is already working on a new tablet device which will run on the Windows 8 operating system, but here is news for Lenovo fans – the company also has plans concerning Microsoft’s upcoming operating system. Reports are making their way across the Internet, with whispers going around that Lenovo intends to be the first in the market to deliver a Windows 8-powered tablet. In fact, Lenovo’s management believes that the operating system itself will be shipped this coming October, and Lenovo wants to greet that particular operating system “wave” by riding on it. It would be interesting to see just how a new operating system in the tablet scene will change the dynamics of competition. Will you be curious enough to give a Windows 8-powered tablet a go?

Lenovo: Lenovo Group Limited, commonly known as Lenovo, is a Chinese consumer electronics company that is based in Morrisville, North Carolina. Windows 8: Windows 8 was revealed during CES 2011 and formally launched on October 26 2012. This new version of Microsoft operating system (OS) aims at bridging the gap between desktop OS and mobile OS. To ensure API compatibility between Windows 8, Windows 8 RT (for ARM-based processor) and Windows Phone 8, Microsoft has unified the code base of all those operating systems. This should make it very easy for developers develop once and deploy on all platforms with a minimal amount of tweaks. The most visible change is the Metro design language, which is very much suited for mobile applications.
