Samsung loses patent decision to Apple in HollandThe Netherlands (or Holland) is a great place to visit for a holiday, as the atmosphere there seems to be extremely relaxed at all times, and it is also one of the more liberal cities in Europe. Well, the Netherlands is also the legal battleground for Samsung and Apple, where the latter picked up a victory against the former after the court decided that Apple emerged the victor regarding a FRAND patent dispute. This has been touted to be important as well as highly meaningful, considering this would mean that Samsung can no longer pursue injunctive relief as long as Apple is open enough to negotiate a license agreement under FRAND terms for wireless patents. Apart from that, Samsung also is unable to assert its 3G/UMTS wireless patents against Apple’s iPhone 4S due to “patent exhaustion”. I guess this might just signal the close of a chapter in the long patent fight book between Apple and Samsung across the globe.
