Sony is not all about TVs and Blu-ray players, you know, as they have an entire ecosystem of consumer electronics devices that work seamlessly with one another. While they did churn out digital cameras in the past, those tend to target the entry-level markets, but over time, Sony has moved into the DSLR segment, and hence the Sony α57 camera being the most recent addition to its family of devices. Sporting Sony’s innovative Translucent Mirror design, it is capable of directing incoming light to the CMOS image sensor and the AF sensor simultaneously, paving the way for full-time continuous AF when you shoot photo stills as well as videos. Not only that, you are also able to frame, focus and preview shots in real-time thanks to the high-resolution Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder.

The Sony α57 camera will continue where its predecessor, the α55, left off. Among its capabilities is being able to shoot still images at up to 12 frames per second, capture full HD video at 60p, 60i or 24p frame rates, in addition to offering on the table a range of creative modes such as Auto Portrait Framing, which incidentally is a world’s first technology. The Sony α57 interchangeable lens camera will arrive from next month onwards with an 18-55mm kit zoom lens for $800 a pop. You can pick up just the body alone for around $700 thereabouts.
