Running for leisure and running to beat the world record are two different things, and I don’t suppose if you have a pack of flesh eating zombies bearing down on you like in the movie Resident Evil, then surely you might even beat Usain Bolt to the finish line in the 100m and 200m events. This particular app called Zombies, Run! intends to up the ante in your running routine, where it is a narrated game that requires you to out run zombies, picking up supplies to maintain your survival. The only way to “beat” the game? Keep on running – staying at home is not going to get you anywhere (in the game as well as in your constant battle against the bulge).

The app’s co-creator, Adrian Hon, said, “When you’re out running, you’ll occasionally get chased by zombies and you’ll need to speed up in response over the next minute. That’s very much like interval training, which is one of the best ways to get fit and to improve cardio. But it’s incredibly hard to make yourself do it because it’s painful. But when you’re being chased by zombies, well that’s another thing.” Sounds legit, and could very well be the perfect incentive to remain alive – hopefully your waistline will shrink in the process as well. It will be available for Android and iOS devices, so Windows Phone users will need to find a different method of motivation.
