[MWC 2012] From a distance, it’s easy to get confused with all the new tablets from ASUS which now includes the Asus Transformer Pad 300 – they all look the same (superficially) and their price difference is often less than $150. So… here’s the deal: the Asus Transformer Pad 300 Series is a cost-reduced version of the Transformer Prime. It also features Tegra 3, and by all appearances, the user experience is similar. However, it does have build quality that is not as “premium” as the Transformer Prime. Additionally, there’s a wireless broadband option as well, one that did not exists on the Transformer Prime.
Although pricing will vary, and is not set in stone, we’ve been led to understand that it will cost approximately $399 instead of $499 – but this will vary depending on many options that be chosen at order-time (chipset, storage, 3G/4G). Suffice to say that you should see this as a more modern and cheaper version of the Transformer prime.
In terms of user experience, it is very similar to its older sibling that we reviewed in late November.
