amd-roadmap-2012

AMD has announced that its range of next-gen notebook processors is already on its way to laptops near you. The new processors continue a trend that AMD is not exactly known for; a combination of a CPU and discrete-level graphics on a single chip while keeping the power consumption low for optimum battery life. The first of the chips that are shipping is code named Trinity and is under the A-Series of AMD chips. It will have a thermal design power (TDP) between 17W and 35W in dual and quad-core variants.

On the other hand are the C and E series processors which will have TDPs between 9W and 18W. These will be codenamed Brazos 2.0 and will feature dual-core designs in netbooks as well as low-powered and more affordable ultrabooks and on top of that, notebooks. All of the chips support DirectX 11 and high definition 1080p video but if you’re looking to do some serious computer-related things, the safe money would be on at least the E-series, if you want a better price and a longer battery, the C-series should suffice as an alternative to Intel’s Atom processors specifically for netbooks.
