Windows Phone Apollo may be just around the corner as version 8 of Microsoft’s mobile Operating System appears on the “I’m a WP7” application. Apollo which is also known as Windows Phone 8 is the next big thing coming up in the world of Windows Phone OS. The upgrade is akin to that of Android Ice Cream Sandwich to the rumored Android Jelly Bean. Recent online reports indicate that Apollo is now being tested as the “I’m a WP7” application shows that a few smartphones are currently running Windows Phone version 8.0.9662.0 of the OS.

While this could simply be a ruse made to distract, sufficient salt should be taken with the rumor. Although not much has been officially announced about the next installment of the Windows OS, we can expect that Apollo will bring full Skype and NFC integration into the mix. Moreover, key development partners such as Nokia will allegedly be given a freer reign. Have you recently spotted any Windows 8 users on the “I’m a WP7” application? Do check it out and let us know with a comment below.
