Have you ever wanted a robot that you could bring along to jamming sessions for those times when your drummer was busy? While there are metronomes available, inventor Steffest has created himself a robotic drummer that can be programmed via a web interface, allowing him to create a drum sequence for the robot on his phone and launching it into action simply at a touch of a button.

Dubbed the DrummerBot, it is driven using an Arduino that controls the robots eight servo motors. In place of a drum set, the bot is given a variety of items such as pot lids that it can bang away on, thus producing a variety of different sounds that while may not sound like typical drums, is still a form of percussion that some musicians might find a use for. Granted the sound from the bot is pretty raw, we’re sure that it’s something a little studio magic can’t fix.

Head on down to Steffest’s website for the details, or check out the video above for a demonstration of the DrummerBot in action.
