With Windows 8 being shipped without the beloved ‘Start’ button that we all have become accustomed to, 3rd party solutions have been devised to fill the gap for those that want it back for the upcoming anticipated Windows 8. The previous app that will bring the ‘Start’ button back to the front page of the OS is called ‘Start8’ with another new one named Classic Shell which brings back classic Windows interfaces to Windows (8 as well as some previous versions).

Classic Shell which has recently been updated with the long awaited ‘Start’ menu button which it can add back to the Windows 8 OS currently supports the Windows 8 Customer Preview that was released earlier in the year but once the final release of the OS is open to the public by Microsoft, it is a certainty that the developers of Classic Shell will add support for it.

The app will install the ‘Start’ button if users remember to keep the ‘start menu option’ selected during installation. Classic Shell will provide a menu that looks like the classic Windows XP one and not like what have been seen with Vista or Windows 7. Our friends over at Ghacks have reported that the ‘Start’ menu feels very responsive even when used on comparably weaker systems. On top of the ‘Start’ menu, Classic Shell also adds several tweaking components in their bid for users to maintain a ‘classic’ feel for their Windows experienced if they do not want or like the Metro interface highlighted in the upcoming OS. If you have tried Classic Shell, let us know about your experiences with it by commenting below.
