We humans love to measure stuff – be it a cube of sugar or two, miles per gallon, words per minute typed on the keyboard, and how about this – the ability to know just how you have spent your time with the Gmail service from Google? This is exactly what the Gmail Meter does, thanks to the efforts of Romain Vialard, a Google Apps Script Top Contributor, who came up with such a tool that is powered by Google Apps Script. The Gmail Meter is an Apps Script that will enter into action on the first day of every month, where it will compile your Gmail habits and send you an email.

Just like how Google Account Activity provides all the necessary and relevant information about how you used your Google Account, Gmail Meter will also share the collected and processed information of your Gmail account habits, including the number of important and starred messages and the number of people who sent you emails amongst others. Other features include Daily Traffic that estimates when you receive messages and when you send them during a particular month, while Traffic Pattern delivers an overall sense of your email activity over the week. Will Gmail Meter catch on in a big way? Not likely, but it does not sound as though it is going to be a complete failure, either.
