All this while, the God of War franchise has proved to be a solo experience, as you and your mates regale experiences of dispatching monster after monster through a careful combo of button presses, and the adage holds true – the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Most of us would think that we are the best at God of War, but how does one quantify single player performance? Enter God of War: Ascension with a new angle, as it comes with a competitive multiplayer mode. God of War: Ascension will be a PS3 exclusive, where this particular prequel will let place you squarely in the boots of the ex-Spartan warrior, Kratos, as he looks for a way to break the blood oath which has bound him to the deity known as Ares.

According to Todd Pappy, game director, God of War: Ascension, “The bar is set quite high for this franchise as each God of War title succeeds in being better than the last. But, unlike previous releases, we’re providing a deeper look into Kratos’ tormented past and psyche that fans have not seen before. Combined with refined gameplay, jaw-dropping visuals, and a fresh twist on competitive gaming with our new online multiplayer mode, I guarantee that God of War: Ascension will give fans what they have been eagerly waiting for, and much more.”

You can compete for the first time ever in a God of War title in either online or offline multiplayer battles for that added touch of excitement. Depending on the single-player campaign, this new element will include up to eight players, and there is a range of different multiplayer modes to go alongside customizable avatar warriors, armor and weapon types. With four Greek gods to align themselves to – Zeus, Ares, Poseidon or Hades, you will need to earn their respective approvals in order to unlock more customization options. 2013 is definitely going to be an exciting ride for God of War fans.
