LG logoWhile LG’s Android offerings do offer up some pretty decent specs and design, they don’t really differentiate themselves much from the competition. LG knows this and its Managing Director of LG Mobile Communications, Kwon Bong-suk has stepped forward and revealed his company’s plans to introduce what they’re calling a “thinking smartphone”. As opposed to stuffing their upcoming handsets with the most powerful hardware available or the best entertainment features, LG will instead focus on building a product that’s both intelligent and responsive to the user’s needs.

In an example he cited, imagine setting your phone’s alarm at 6AM, but because your phone has detected that there is an unusual amount of traffic today on the way to work, it decides to wake you up at 5:30AM instead to give you a head start so that you won’t be late. Pretty nifty, don’t you think? Deviating from that for a moment, Kwon has also mentioned that LG is exploring the possibility of a $100 smartphone but has also stated that it should be a device of decent quality that does not compromise on the user experience too much. So there we have it, a “thinking smartphone” and a $100 smartphone from LG. Safe to say the former would probably be more exciting to look forward to.
