Sony will roll out the “nasne”, a spanking new networked recorder and media storage device that will feature 500GB of storage space thanks to a built-in hard drive, in addition to digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast tuners. Expect “nasne” to arrive in the Land of the Rising Sun this coming July 19th at approximately $211 after conversion. Just what kind of goodies does nasne bring to the table? For starters, when nasne is connected to one’s home network, one can then watch and record digital terrestrial and satellite broadcast via dedicated applications including “torne” for the PS3 and VAIO TV with nasne.

Not only that, if you tend to be on the move a whole lot, then you are also able to access your recorded content straight from a PS Vita, giving you an excuse to go out and purchase one of these puppies even though it is not exactly doing too well in the market at the moment. If a PS Vita is not your cup of tea, there are always different alternatives, including the Xperia smartphone or Sony Tablet.

Apart from that, nasne also has within it the capability to stream live or recorded television programs simultaneously onto two of these supported Sony products, so that different users are able to access similar content on the same network. No idea if the Sony nasne will ever arrive outside of Japan, and whether localized versions will be released for it, but we will just have to adopt a wait and see attitude. [Press Release]
