As previously reported, Valve confirmed that the company was in the works for a version of the gaming distribution platform, Steam for Linux. Now after only a short time, the folks over at Phoronix discovered some very encouraging news in that aspect. It found a photograph of Steam running on Linux with the game Left 4 Dead running on Ubuntu 11.10 with AMD Catalysts drivers. Today however, the site went as far as to post up a video of the same scenario in which the earlier photograph was taken. The video clip which seemed to be taken in haste just to indicate that Valve is making progress with its earlier stated intentions also and it also shows that the Left 4 Dead 2 game is functional which leads to the previously taken photo to be a genuine one. The report from Phoronix states that the video in which the game was shown was being run from an Ubuntu 11.10 workstation one of them were checking out from within Valve’s Bellevue offices on Tuesday.
