What happens when you have too much money (and time) on your hands? Well, Australian billionaire Clive Palmer (seen above) decided to have a go at history by building the second iteration of the Titanic, calling it the Titanic 2. Ready to set sail by the time 2016 rolls around, the main question on many peoples’ minds would be this – will it sink? Well, according to Mr. Palmer, “It will be every bit as luxurious as the original Titanic but of course it will have state-of-the-art 21st Century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems. Of course it will sink if you put a hole in it. It is going to be designed so it won’t sink, but, of course, if you are superstitious like you are, you never know what could happen.”

Should the Titanic 2 be completed in time, it will set sail from London to New York, and hopefully the work done by a Chinese state-owned company will be up to par and remain afloat. Something tells me that if he had called this ship by any other name, it would have been able to have a quiet launch, but the amount of attention pointed in its direction due to the naming convention is going to place unnecessary pressure on the crew to make sure that everything is fine and dandy. Would you purchase tickets for the Titanic 2 if you could afford it?
