A while back, we reported a few leaks that were supposedly the Sony Ericcson Xperia Duo which was apparently named as such because it was going to be Sony’s (then still Sony Ericcson) first dual-core smartphone and it was due for release in September 2011. Now after months and months of no news regarding the device, it seems like we will soon be seeing the device in reality.
Reportedly, Sony Mobile Communications filed for a trademark for the Xperia Duo with the USPTO on March 28. All we can say from this piece of information is that Sony does intend on using the name but as to whether the device in question will be the same one we saw before it looks like we will just have to wait and see. Of course there is a bit of a distance from abstract to reality, the only thing we can be absolutely sure off is that the Xperia Duo will not be Sony’s first dual-core smartphone.
