Apple Genius Bars still facing iPhone 4 replacement constraints, instructed to replace with iPhone 4S

A while back it was reported that due to constraints of replacement units for the iPhone, those working at Apple’s retail stores were instructed to replace owners with faulty iPhone 4s with refurbished versions of the iPhone 4S. The constrained units were the white 16GB GSM version of the iPhone 4 and while Apple has almost caught up with the demand for 16GB white iPhone 4s, it seems that they are now facing constraints with the black 16GB and 32GB versions of the iPhone 4 units. Similar to the situation before, Apple Genius Bars that find themselves without stock for the black 16/32GB iPhone 4 replacement units have been instructed to provide customers with comparable iPhone 4S units as a replacement. So if you have a faulty black 16/32GB iPhone 4, you could very well walk away with a “free” upgrade to a iPhone 4S if you’re lucky.
