A little over a week ago, we reported that Gigabyte was set to launch its lightest notebook yet, and according to their claims, this would be the “lightest notebook on Earth”. Did they live up to their claims? We think they might have as far as 11.6″ notebooks are concerned. The device has officially been announced and featuring an 11.6” 1366×768 display, the Gigabyte X11 sports a carbon fibre build and weighs in at an impressive 975g, so if you’re looking for a light and portable notebook to take with you on the go, the Gigabyte X11 might be an option worth considering.

So what sort of specs will the X11 be packing under its hood? It will come in a variety of different configurations and is expected to be priced between $999 to $1,299 depending on the specs. It will also feature Intel’s 3rd generation Core processors (Ivy Bridge), a 128GB SSD, 4GB of RAM, USB 3.0 ports and the low-power Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Now according to Gigabyte, the X11 is a pretty cool laptop in terms of the way it handles heat. Apparently inspired by the exhausts used by super cars, the X11 notebook will sport dual air vent designs and incorporates the use of aluminum which will apparently help with the laptop’s “cool and smooth operation just like a sports car.” Other features includes a 1.3MP built-in webcam and a microSD card slot. The Gigabyte X11 is expected to be made available in July.
