If playing the Nintendo Wii or Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Kinect is considered as a form of exercise for you, or if you’re simply curious as to the amount of calories that one can burn while playing games with the Kinect, thanks to The Verge’s sources, Microsoft has been rumored to launch a cross-fit tracking application dubbed Kinect Play Fit. The application along with a sensor accessory, dubbed Joule, will track your heart rate while playing your game with its data being uploaded to the cloud. If this sounds familiar, it’s because EA currently ships their own heart rate monitor with their EA Sports Active 2. However unlike EA’s heart rate monitor, Microsoft’s “Joule” accessory is expected to be compatible with the majority of Kinect games. No word on when Microsoft will be rolling out the Kinect Play Fit but according to sources, a future dashboard update is expected to introduce the system and it is possible that it will be detailed further at E3 next month, so be sure to check back with us then for the details if there are any to be had.
