We did mention that Nokia will launch tablets and hybrid smart mobile devices in the future yesterday, but apparently, that is not the true story. Apparently, a Nokia spokesman has been alerted to the situation, and some firefighting was required to quell all rumors, denying what outgoing Chairman Jorma Ollila suggested, and quickly debunked all that was shared with the Financial Times, claiming that Nokia is currently watching the tablet market “with interest.” To put it succinctly, Keith Nowak, a Nokia spokesman, said, “What Mr. Ollila said has been misconstrued a bit. As we have been saying, we are watching the space with interest, but have made no announcements regarding a tablet product.”

Well, that’s that then – Nokia might still be working on a tablet, but it is not that likely. I would personally go for the latter, a secret Nokia tablet would have seen a leak by now considering how such tech ninjas tend to lurk around these days. Do you think that Nokia has the ability to challenge Apple on the iPhone front, or should they just concentrate on whatever few eggs that they have in their current Windows Phone basket instead of diversifying their portfolio so soon after working hard to recover the company from the brink?
