It seems that RIM is being slapped with one lawsuit after another. After all, it wasn’t too long ago that they were facing a lawsuit by NXP over patent infringements, and lately Nokia has decided to sue them (along with HTC and ViewSonic) over alleged patent infringements as well. Adding to that list would be a Seattle-based company called Hunter Point Ventures that claims the company has violated its “method for music playlist selection in a portable audio device”. With a patent whose description is that broad, the lawsuit could have easily targeted just about any other company who manufactures PMPs, smartphones or tablets. While we do wholeheartedly agree that companies should go about protecting their intellectual property, what do you guys think? Do we have a patent troll at work here or do you think that is this a legitimate claim?
