When it comes to driving games, gone are the days when you played from a top down view, and everything was in 2D. I remember when Daytona USA first hit the arcades – now that was a game worth investing quarters in to learn how to drift through the corners in the Advanced and Expert levels, cutting one’s driving time by as much as possible as well. Over the years, the driving simulator genre has definitely caught on, and it has also captured the imagination of gaming peripheral companies to deliver some high class offerings in the past. Saginomiya’s latest driving simulator will comprise of actual vehicle parts as well, merging the real world with that of the virtual one for an added touch of realism.

Basically, two types of test systems are used, where a driving simulator will cater for sensory evaluation feedback, which comes in handy to tune the suspension or the steering ECU. A different system will feature a vibration system installed, where actuators located on the rack end will be able to reproduce road reaction as well as kick-back in real time, transmitting the vehicle’s behavior directly to the steering wheel for some real life feedback. Interesting – now to make me feel wind blowing in my hair the faster I go…
