A few days ago, we said that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been rooted and that its official stock firmware has been leaked. But it appears that the folks over at XDA Developers are not stopping there. We are hearing reports that the Samsung Galaxy S3’s launcher is now available for Galaxy S2 owners. The Samsung Galaxy S3 TouchWiz launcher has been ported to the Galaxy S2 by an XDA Forum member named Smando. Unfortunately, Smando said that it will only work on Samsung-based ROMs, which means that those running AOSP will not be able to port the launcher just yet. The launcher comes in a recovery-flashable update.zip file, and the installation process is reportedly easy.

Users have two options: choose the original 4 x 5 stock layout launcher or opt for the modified 5 x 5 launcher. The release has already received some updates and fixes including the layout of the widgets page. However, those who tried have reported freezing, force closing, and other bugs, so if you wish to try it out, please don’t expect too much. XDA Forum member Smando claims that he was able to successfully port the new Touchwiz launcher from GS3 to the GS2 a couple of days ago. “Try it and give me feedback, there are some things to fix but it looks very nice and smooth,” Smando wrote.
