About a week ago, we reported on the rumor that Overkill was working on a Left 4 Dead game that would basically be the prequel to the Left 4 Dead series. This would tell the story of how the zombies came about and while it did sound like a good idea, unfortunately that isn’t the case. Speaking to PCGamesN, Valve developer Chet Faliszek basically debunked the rumor and was quoted as saying, “I want to make sure that people don’t think the prequel is coming.”

He also stated that Overkill is still working on Payday: The Heist, while the folks at Valve are still making Left 4 Dead. While the rumors had it wrong, what they did get right was that there is something going on with both Overkill and Valve. Faliszek confirmed this and has suggested that both developers are working on something together, possibly something to do with a co-op game. We guess it’s a bit early for them to be disclosing additional information, but this is definitely a collaboration we’re looking forward to. So, anyone else bummed out that the Left 4 Dead prequel turned out to be false?
