SpeakerCraft has just introduced its Protege TV Speaker to the masses, where it delivers audio to your ears in an extremely covert and sublime manner, thanks to it being an under-TV sound system which helps flat panel TVs sound as good as they look. Sporting powerful loudspeakers, subwoofers and DSP technology that are crammed in a single cabinet, the SpeakerCraft Protege takes mere minutes to hook up to TVs. SpeakerCraft engineers have also taken the opportunity to have the Protege TV speaker work by improving male and female vocals, while increasing higher listening levels to cater for larger rooms with the ability to throw out deeper bass. Sporting a couple of 5.25″ woofers in a tuned enclosure, our ears get to enjoy low-end bass that is long missing from vanilla flat panel TVs.

SpeakerCraft’s Keith Marshall said, “Every TV out there has one unfortunate characteristic. A weakness that has been there for so long, most consumers have just come to accept it as ‘the way it is.’ And that weakness is the sound. Our TV Speaker presents a uniquely SpeakerCraft solution for the people who don’t want to incur the expense of a room full of speakers and AVR receiver but still want Hi-Resolution sound to go with their Digital Flat-Panel TV.”

There is an on-board limiter that ensures the woofer’s driver will not end up over-powered, and will also have another duty which is to maintain clean and undistorted sound regardless of output levels. It does not matter if your TV is mounted on a stand or is wall mounted, the SpeakerCraft Protege TV Speaker would play nice with it all the same. No idea on pricing, but it ought to ship sometime this fall, barring any delay. [Press Release]
