It’s never nice to have your phone stolen, and it looks like AT&T are taking some steps to discourage thieves from stealing your phones. According to the folks at The Verge who were tipped off by a trusted source, AT&T will be implementing a new security measure that allows customers to suspend services and block their device from being used on the AT&T network if the device has been lost or stolen.
AT&T will accomplish this by compiling a “blocklist” of stolen devices and will automatically suspend devices on the list if any attempt is made to use them. To add a number to the blocklist, customers will have to contact a customer service representative directly. No word on how much this blocklist service will cost but it’s supposed to be launched next Tuesday. Stay tuned for more details.
