If you’ve been trying to access Demonoid (one of the most popular BitTorrent trackers around) yesterday, you might have noticed that the error page we’ve all seen too often. However, this time it looks like it’s pretty serious. The folks over at TorrentFreak got in touch with Demonoid’s tech admin and it turns out that the reason for yesterday’s outage has been due to a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack that caused a series of problems. It is going to take a while to fix due to the complexity of the problems.
In addition to the main DDoS attack, Demonoid’s server may also have been compromised by another attack, but not much is known about it yet. Demonoid’s server is only handled by one person right now so it’s not going to be up anytime soon. In the meantime you can just wait for it to come back up or turn to one of the many alternatives out there.
