While RIM’s Blackberry smartphones might have been the choice for businesses in the past, it seems that more and more companies are starting to turn away from Blackberry phones, instead opting to equip employees with devices running on either Android or iOS. This might explain why we were not too surprised to learn that Australian airline, Qantas, has decided to lose RIM’s Blackberry phones in favor of Apple’s iPhone. This will see the removal of about 1,300 Blackberry devices. This moved was prompted by a survey the company held with its staff, asking them which phone they would prefer and we guess the iPhone won. However the iPhone will not be imposed upon their staff and Qantas employees will have the option of bringing in their own Android device if preferred. Is this another indication of RIM’s slow death, or do you think that Blackberry 10 devices will help turn things around for the company?
