Verizon Wireless has just confirmed the Samsung Intensity III smartphone – which comes approximately a couple of years after the Intensity II was spotted on our pages. The Intensity III was originally leaked, where it sported a design route that is less popular these days – I am referring to a horizontal sliding QWERTY keyboard that supposedly makes life a whole lot easier when you are composing a flurry of text messages as well as emails. Not only that, the Verizon Intensity III is said to come along with “enhanced” social networking capabilities, allowing it to perform updates to your Facebook as well as Twitter feeds on the quick.

You know at one glance that the Intensity III is not meant to be a looker, as it comes in a rather rugged make up, adhering to 810F military specifications which enables it to withstand shock, low pressure, extreme temperatures, solar radiation, and dust, all under extreme and trying conditions. Not only that, it was created from 80% post-consumer materials for a lower carbon footprint, and has a pre-loaded eco-calculator to boot. Other hardware specifications include a 2.4″ QVGA display, a 2-megapixel camera, Fake Call support, Bluetooth connectivity, a microSD memory card slot, and VZ Navigator among others, retailing for $80 after $50 mail-in rebate and 2-year contract.
