Our mobile phones these days have certainly come a long way in the photography department, where movie files used to be (and still are for some phones) recorded in the 3GP format which resulted in less than stellar quality. Now our smartphones are capable of recording Full HD 1080p movies so putting together high quality videos (video quality, not content quality) using our mobile phones is becoming more common. Perhaps to demonstrate the quality of the Xperia ion’s camera, Sony and the band Metric have released a music video for the song “Synthetica” that has been shot entirely using the Xperia ion. Directed by Chris Lenox Smith, if you’re wondering what the Xperia ion’s camera is capable of, check out the video above for yourself. In the meantime the phone is available from AT&T for $99.99 with a new two-year contract.
